Hey all,
HERE is the double page spread. I actually ended up changing the entire ending of this chapter a few weeks ago, so I’ve been re drawing every page since page 30. Whew! I’m feeling much better about the ending though, and I think the pages I’m cranking out now are wayyy better than what I was going to deliver.
I’ve recently been creating my pages with a Windsor Newton Series 7 sable brush, which has been a great experience. I almost went all digital, but I couldn’t bring myself to take the leap, and I’m glad I didn’t. I love the old school vibe too much. I’m hoping to write a blog post on the Space-Mullet process real soon, maybe within the next week? Depends how much freelance work comes in. If you’re an artist yourself, comment and let me know what you’re using! I love nerding out about tools.
And just a heads up, I might be a day late with Monday’s page, I’m going away on a ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY trip with my wife. Happily married for one year! Bring on the rest! I’ll try to get it up on time, but no promises!
Stay warm, everybody, and thank you so much for taking the time to read.
P.S. If you’re here from my advertising on Hark! A Vagrant webcomic, welcome! I hope you stick around!
First off… happy one year anniversary!! The missus and i just celebrated our 10th last year and man… time flies when you are having fun 8)
Now.. the important bit 8)… WOW!!!! what a spread!!! and what great expression on the Space Goblin!!! The disbelieve… the utter shock and the stare into the pit of despair… leading to a final demise… it is almost poetic really 8)
Vonbek, wow. 10 years!? That is awesome, and something to shoot for! Nice Job. Thanks for the comment about the demise of our Space-Goblin. I think I’m going to edit the script soon and give him a name, at least for the print version.
Thanks as always for reading!
Yeah Happy Anniversary! My wife and I will hit number 7 this year. We will have kid numero 4 in May. It’s a blast!
Wataa,
Congrats on your success in marriage! I hope to say everything youre saying someday.
Thanks!
SHEEEEEEEEEET that’s awesome!
i second Jon’s comment
Thanks Jon! Thanks little bro! It’s so cool that you guys are reading this.
Whoaaaaah.
I’m a little confused though. Is this just delayed reaction to Al’s attack? The disbelief in the last panel of the page before and the fact that she isn’t doing anything right now makes me think so, but I might be misinterpreting events.
Asimov,
Thanks for your comment, and awesome question. Without giving too much away, I was trying to show that it is indeed our small girl that is tearing this fella in half. I wanted that confused/scared look of the last panel on the previous page to show that she’s not entirely in control. So yeah, she did this. I’m planning on making it clearer next page as well. It’s tough with webcomics, because there are so many weird questions that start to happen when you have to wait days for pages. Even if it does come out a little open ended, that’s not such a bad thing though. I want there to be a bit of mystery behind this girl.
Let me know your thoughts, especially on Monday, I’d love to hear what you think. Thanks for keeping me accountable in my storytelling!
Thanks for the reply! Looking forward to Monday, as always
She’s tearing him in half? Meh – women do that to me all the time! I know your wife could… having seen a few Con pics!!! 😀
You realize that this little girl just COMPLETELY wasted the most favored to win the 2013 Mr. Galaxy contest!! (Apparently the rules for implants have been eased, unless those ears of his are real!! (correction… WERE real!)
DWJ – May you always remain under-employed so that we have this comic!! (I do promise to get some Zombie Portraits one day soon, especially if I relo back near ‘the orb.’ I’m going to want one of me, and one of Joanna Krupa. Preferably of us both engaged in ‘skull.’
HAHAHA! I kill me! (So would skull!)
Hahaha Ivan, you crack me up, dude. Thanks for reading!
Excellent work and finish a buffer quickly if you can. You won’t have time for much longer. Such is the fate of people who do good work as you do. Other offers come your way. Put on your seatbelt:-)
Thanks, Matty! No bites yet, haha. Here’s hoping! I was thinking about trying to pitch a comic to Image, we’ll see. Thank you for the encouraging words, however, and of course, thanks for reading!
I’d say that’s the whole Riip-SPLORT of it!!! This is sort of like watching Gallagher at work…
hahaha YES to Gallagher!
I love that elbow. The rest is wonderfully excellent as well. I agree stay “old school”. Digital has its merits, but there is nothing like real ink splattering up a real page.
Gaping and speechless.
Eeeeewh!!! Don’t just stand there and gape! We know what that means! We don’t want to see that unless you are Joanna Krupa!
I don’t think gaping means what it used to mean in the late 1900’s. Whatever it means now doesn’t sound like a good thing.
Yeah, I was confused as well…But I’m glad my images are getting through! Thank you!
This is an awesome page and “SPLORT” is a great sound effect. Can’t wait to learn more about this very powerful little girl.
One of the best sound effects ever, I think! Thanks, Leo!
OH NO!!! He thinks he’s Don Martin!
You can’t buff the golden arm rests, let alone sit upon his throne! Perhaps one day…

Name the space Goblin? Wasn’t he “Dargon the Community Leader” in his fancy office?(The framed diploma on his wall)
Actually, Ming, Dargon is the Planet they’re on currently. I haven’t come up with a name for the Space goblin yet. I will by the print version. Thanks for reading!
Sonic BOOM!
You said it!
